The show is broadcast on the premium cable network HBO in the United States. It is produced by HBO in association with Ball's production company, Your Face Goes Here Entertainment. It premiered on September 7, 2008. The first five seasons of the series received generally favorable reviews and won several awards, including a Golden Globe and an Emmy. On July 15, 2013, HBO announced that True Blood had been renewed for a seventh season that will premiere in summer 2014.
